Central Medical Supplies (CMS) has so far donated over £3,450 to the Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity, since entering into a charitable partnership earlier this year. As part of its positive social impact and sustainability commitment, CMS is gifting 5% of its sales of the Kanmed BabyBed, Kanmed Twin BabyBed and Kanmed Baby Warmer to Ickle Pickles.
Besides the percentage of sales contributions, CMS will also be supporting Ickle Pickles by raising awareness and taking part in fundraising activities. Activities include a rugby match bucket shake and employee participation in a 10K run at Alton Towers theme park.
As a specialist supplier of developmental care and neonatal products, CMS understands that the smallest and most fragile babies require the very best care. Ickle Pickles is the only charity that raises funds to donate intensive care equipment to neonatal units across England and Wales. Every year, over 90,000 babies are born sick or prematurely in the UK and the charity helps hospitals purchase vital equipment for treating them. Since 2009, the Ickle Pickles Children’s Charity has raised over £3.5 million, which has been used to purchase equipment for over 50 neonatal units and neonatal transport services around the country.
Commenting on the Ickle Pickles donation and partnership, Sarah Ward, Brand and Product Manager at Central Medical Supplies, says: “We’re pleased to be supporting Ickle Pickles and helping neonatal nurses provide the best possible care for the fragile babies they are looking after.” Rachael Marsh, Co-founder and Trustee of Ickle Pickles, says: “The amazing donation from Central Medical Supplies will be used to provide neonatal units with the vital equipment they need, to assist clinical teams in treating premature babies and helping them survive and thrive.”
For over 35 years, CMS has been helping midwives and neonatal nurses support infants in their care by providing hospitals with an innovative range of medical devices, along with baby and maternity products. One of the products CMS supplies is the Kanmed BabyBed, a modern way to care for newborn and premature babies in medium and low intensive care situations. Featuring unique push down side walls, the bed is simple to use, easy to clean and the only one of its kind in the UK that comes with electrical height adjustment. The Kanmed BabyBed is also available in a Twin version, which is ideal for co-bedding twins.
When the Kanmed BabyBed is combined with the Kanmed Baby Warmer, it creates the perfect, open baby warming system, which encourages both parental involvement and caregiving. The Kanmed Baby Warmer is clinically proven to help babies from 1,000 grams maintain their core temperature and achieve normothermia. The Kanmed Baby Warmer uniquely offers non-incubator support to neonates at much lower birth weights, with similar outcomes to incubator care. This makes the warmer a cost-effective solution for hospitals and enables more babies to be cared for, as they can be moved from a traditional incubator much quicker.
